Connections Conseling Center helps people live effectively in the world as individuals and in community with others.
The Center provides individuals, couples and families an opportunity to explore a variety of life’s challenges that may include: Job Transitions, Depression, Anxiety, Marital and FamilyConflict, Divorce and Recovery, Difficulty in Personal Relationships, Loss and Grief, Adjustment to Major Change, Crises of Faith and Meaning, and Parenting Concerns.
Eugene Robinson, D.Min., LMFT, ACPE
Gene is a pastoral counselor with extensive education in theology, psychotherapy, and marriage and family counseling. He has practiced counseling for more than 35 years and is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist. He holds professional membership in the American Psychotherapy Association (Diplomate), the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (Clinical Member), and the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (Clinical Theological Educator). Gene teaches Clinical Pastoral Education at Emory University and facilitates groups on the in-patient mental health unit at Emory University Healthcare

Group Sessions
FATHERS & SONS
Fathers and sons will work together for six weeks. The group will focus on helping participnats talk about concerns and issues that are significant to them. Fathers will be encouraged to share memories of their teen years and the wisdom they gained about life. Sons will be encouraged to share their stories. Sons must be 15 years or older. Clips from movies (e.g., Men of Honor) will be used to focus discussions.
(Max of 14 participants, twice a month, 2 hours per session, $40.00 per session per father/son - 6 sessions)
PRE-MARITAL SEMINARS
The seminar helps couples considering marriage to assess their strengths and identify growing edges. Participants will explore specific topics, e.g., the role of a credit score in the life of a marriage, the influence of their families of origin, personal expectations, their spiritual/faith beliefs, and their images of family life. The group provides participants a forum to explore their understanding of power, healing, and forgiveness in a relationship. Participants must be willing to commit for six weeks.
(Max of 8 couples, 6 weeks - $40.00 per couple per session)
COUPLES GROWTH GROUP
The group will meet every other week. Group members will help each other identify specific concerns and learn ways to resolve issues. Participants will have an opportunity to discuss the influence of parenting on marital interaction, the impact of their families of origin on the marital pairing, using forgiveness as a martial tool, using "transitions" to nurture personal growth, and keeping the communication channels open when disagreeing. Participants will complete a marital assessment.
(Max 12 couples for 10 weeks - $40.00 per couple per session)
CONSULTATION FOR MINISTERS
Participants will have an opportunity to explore topics such as:
The group will serve as a forum for ministers to nurture their personal and professional growth.
(Max of 10 particiapnts for 10 weeks - $50.00 per session - 2 hours per session)
GROWTH GROUP FOR MEN
Individuals will have an opportunity to explore their spiritual/emotional development and address questions such as?
(Max of 10 participants for 10 weeks - $35.00 per session - 1.5 hours per session)
GROWTH GROUP FOR WOMEN
Based on a growth group model, participants will have an open forum to discuss many topics of interest to women in the 21st Centruy. The group is open to married women and singles. The group will review clips from movies (e.g., The Diary of a Mad Black Woman) to focus issues and demonstrate possible responses to daily concerns. Participants may ask:
